Mirror, mirror on the mountain – Your journey to the most beautiful alpine lakes in the Dolomites

| Blossom & snow | lake

If you’ve ever stood by a mountain lake, you know: this is more than just a place – it’s a feeling. Peaks reflect in the water like they’re admiring themselves. The air is crisp. And the early morning silence? Almost sacred.

Craving a little time-out with goosebump moments? Come along – we’ll show you our favourite spots around the most beautiful lakes in Val Pusteria. And who knows, maybe Fabian will take you there on one of his guided hikes…

Lago di Braies – The emerald of the Dolomites
Nope, it's no longer a hidden gem – and it doesn’t have to be. That colour! That view! A lake that looks like it was painted. Surrounded by towering rock walls and shimmering emerald water, Lago di Braies pulls you in from the very first glance. Rowboat ride? Absolutely. Walking the full loop? Takes about an hour – and it's worth every step. A must-see during your nature holiday with us. 👉 Barbara’s tip: the loop is most magical in the early morning.

Lago di Anterselva – The quiet blue
Deep blue, calm, almost meditative. Lago di Anterselva lies nestled in dense forests at the foot of the Rieserferner mountains – a peaceful place to just breathe. The circular trail is just under 3 km – perfect for a leisurely stroll with plenty of “wow” moments. Feeling brave? Jump into the icy water! 👉 Ask Sabine – she knows the best spots for a dip.

Lago di Dobbiaco – The mirror of the mountains
A lake like a poem. Crystal-clear, serene, wide – and with a little luck, you’ll see the sky and Dolomite peaks mirrored on the surface. The loop around the lake is about 4.5 km. Ideal for letting your thoughts wander, snapping a few great photos, and just enjoying the now. Don’t forget your binoculars – many water birds love this place too.

Lago di Landro – Postcard view included
Less known, but a true showstopper. Lago di Landro is one of those places where time slows down. Turquoise water and a picture-perfect backdrop of the Cristallo peaks – simply stunning. Perfect for a quiet break with a picnic and a good book. 👉 Or join Fabian on one of his bike tours – they often pass right by here.

Obersee – Wild, small & full of charm
High up, where foxes and hares greet each other good morning, lies Obersee at the Staller Sattel pass. A tiny, wild gem with a wonderfully unspoiled feel – ideal for those staying at our hotel with outdoor pool, looking to connect with raw nature.

And now? The choice is yours.
Emerald green, deep blue or crystal clear – the mountain lakes of Val Pusteria all have one thing in common: they make the everyday feel small and leave room for unforgettable moments. 👉 Hand on heart: which one is your favourite lake?
